Fire trucks
Book
First edition.
A fire truck is a large vehicle used to transport firefighters and equipment to the scene of a fire. Most fire trucks carry ladders, axes, breathing equipment, general tools and long water hoses. A large telescopic ladder is used to gain access to fight fires at great heights. Some ladders have a bucket at the top. From the bucket, a firefighter can easily use equipment or rescue people. Flashing lights and loud sirens are used to get through traffic faster and to let people know they are coming. Some fire departments use fireboats to combat fires on watercraft and waterfront areas. A wildland fire engine is designed to help firefighters fight wildfires. Firefighters are trained to put out fires that threaten buildings and people. Firefighters must wear protective clothing and carry heavy equipment--
